SUMMARY 

Performs manual work related to all aspects of building maintenance and facility-related equipment. Performs maintenance tasks in carpentry, painting, plumbing, basic electrical, and general cleaning.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Facility-Related Functions:

  • Wall repairs and painting
  • Repair doors and windows
  • Basic plumbing installation, problem troubleshooting and repairs
  • Basic building and equipment electrical work
  • Assist with office employees’ needs
  • Immediate cleaning duties necessary to maintain a clean facility
  • Handle recycling and shredding
  • Conduct safety inspections of Fire Extinguishers, Eyewash stations, Emergency lights, and Fire sprinklers
  • Replace damaged floor marking tape

 

Manufacturing Floor-Related Functions:

  • Overhaul and cleaning epoxy dispensing equipment
  • Perform minor Preventive Maintenance tasks
  • Clean epoxy-curing ovens
  • Order replacement equipment parts as required

 

Hazardous Waste-Related Functions:

  • Proper consolidating, removal, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste
  • Preparing hazardous waste containers for shipment
  • Monitor and reorder emergency supplies
  • Clean up spills
  • Replacement of old and contaminated oils in production test stands

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Previous work experience using hand and power tools such as drills, saws, and pipe threaders.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
