SUMMARY

Responsible for the design layouts of new products, modification to existing products and creation of detail engineering drawings and associated lists including release process. Coordinates, supervises or checks other Engineering staff work and acts as Engineering liaison amongst departments when required.  Organizes and plans design projects of complex nature and of moderate scope.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Layouts and sketches to create or improve designs.
  • Perform weight and tolerance stack up analysis.
  • Reviews and analyze previous designs.
  • Adapt existing designs to solve design problems or create new products.
  • Maintains technical coordination with appropriate personnel.
  • Researches technical publications for component parts, materials and conceptual ideas.
  • Initiates detail and assembly drawings and make drawing changes.
  • Create SDRL documents required by customer (ATP, QTP, QTR)
  • Review technical specifications and documents from customers, suppliers, Quality, Contracts and Sales.
  • Interface with Production, Test, Assembly, Machine Shop, Quality, Purchasing, Contracts and Sales

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) in Mechanical Engineering from four-year college or university; and one to five years’ experience in Aerospace design and manufacturing environments.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

The following computer skills are required;  ProE, Solid Works or Catia, Microsoft Office Suite including word, Excel, Powerpoint and Projects.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills and good mechanical aptitude
